When it Rains it Pours (Literally too!)

Yesterday was a very rough me for me. I never got to my medical appoint because of the incompetent medical transportation driver. There was some hope when I got home as I received a long awaited refund check from T-Mobile. However, after being on the phone for more than an hour, the bank gave me bad news after bad news. I just can’t seen get to catch a break.

I need to see an orthopedic doctor for my knee/leg. It’s been quite a while since my doctor submitted the referral. But due too the winter weather, no one was willing to drive me and a cap would cost nearly $100 roundtrip. However, on a recent trip to my doctor, the office staff said they could help me with transportation issues. So an appointment was made and medical transportation was scheduled to and from the appointment. At the time that was a big relief. But that changed quickly.

Yesterday morning around 9am, I kept getting a call from an unknown number (personal). Again I don’t answer my phone and let it roll to voicemail. In the back of my head I was thinking I need to call them back just in case it is the medical transportation confirming my ride at 10am. I called the company it was scheduled with who stated they gave it to another transportation company. What the heck, this was scheduled weeks ago and the day off the appointment you can’t provide transportation nor do you call me to let me know about this new company. Called the new company who spoke broken English but got the impression that a driver would be arriving at 10am.

No cab came. It was a personal vehicle to my utter surprise. As we drove off I recognized we were going the wrong direction. I verified with the driver we were going to Hamilton, NY. She said she had to pickup another passenger who was going to the same place. Alright, I guess but I’m quite annoyed. For the first fifteen minutes, the driver was on her call phone the whole time. I keep doing deep breathing exercises and kept my mouth shut. We pick up the other passenger in Vernon, NY or farther (I just know we passed the Vernon Downs racetrack and casino). This passenger gets in and proceeds to tell the drive how to get there a faster way. Also the passenger and driver just kept talking the whole ride. It’s around 1050 when I notice we are traveling through the city I live in again and she makes a wrong turn (heading to my house). Maybe she is going another way. Nope she drives down Mainstreet, makes several turns and we arrive at my hone at 11am. I flipped out (but was not disrespectful), meanwhile the passenger did NOT SAY ONE WORD. I just got out and told the office I would not be arriving at all because of the incompetence of the medical transportation driver. While she was sympathetic waiving a missed cancellation fee, we scheduled a new appointment for next week in New Hartford, NY.

I had to take a while to calm down. Then I checked my mail with always arrive by 12pm. To my surprise there was something from a company I was not aware of and through the small window a person can see it was a check. Could this be good news? Yes it was. It was the refund check from T-Mobile’s third party company who sends checks or gift cards refunds. Finally, some hope.

When I used the bank app I noticed the old account was now closed and I had a positive balance in my current account. Oh Gods, here we go again. I called the bank to explain I had the refund check in hand asking do I deposit into the old account so we can resolve it once and for all, or deposit in my active account and they can do an internal transfer to resolve the situation. After an HOUR on the phone the answer was no. They want me to sign the check and send it to their PO BOX deposit/payment processing address. What a bunch of……

During the conversation I also made a electronic deposit of another check today while waiting for answers. To my surprise I get another notification from the bank that a charge was declined. Oh Jesus – here we go again. In the end, the last representative I spoke to on Fri LIED TO ME. Due to the negative balance no debit/check transactions would be approved. In the back of mind, I knew this was going to happen. So be it, I’m just going to move forward. Once this situation is all resolved and the closed account is taken care of, I’ll be closing all accounts and moving to another bank. The buck with them is going to stop here.

A better part of the rest of the morning, I was on the phone with T-Mobile again, the utility company and other creditors I had paid recently. Not one of them have been notified of any return checks. In an attempt to circumvent any immediate disconnections I was going to made an additional payment. I was told by many not to. First, they would not immediately connect the service as they would have to notify me of the returned check and give a disconnect notice. I took what the said and ended the phone calls. But I also recognize that is NOT how it works at all. Again misinformation…..UGH.

All this was resolved about 3pm. It took another half and hour for me to calm down, collect my thoughts and figure out what the hell I was going to do now. I just couldn’t think straight.

During this whole ordeal I didn’t even drink. I was proud of that. But then later in then night I had two beers. On that note I have made an appointment with an outpatient center for an intake next week. This has all simply got to end.

Woke up today actually refreshed. But I still have things to do if the weather cooperates (once this severe thunderstorm passes). And it requires to walk to place that is not exactly around the corner. But I don’t have any money for a taxi/Uber/Lift so I’m just going to the best I can. I need to take a long walk anyway – I think despite from pain it might be the best thing for me.

Finally, I’m going to take one thing at a time when it comes and living the rest of the puzzle pieces fall as they may.
So be it!

Do you own all of the various reflection books that you post on this site daily? Or is there an alternative you have found to get them from the internet, and post them all in this single location?
