Oh My Gods, I have been on the phone since 10:00am trying to get my medical insurance straightened out. I have called TWELVE different numbers. Finally, I called the right number hopefully resolving the issue.
Since last year (to the day) I have been on workers’ compensation. I couldn’t continue to pay premiums on my Walmart coverage so it was canceled. In turn I applied for Medicaid through my local county office which was approved.
I wear glasses. My glasses are a couple years old but they function fine. Unfortunately, my three cats (I think it was Midnight, the little shite, knocked them off my table and the very small screw broke in half thus making them unusable. I tried tying string, using a place hair tie and even tape. Nothing would work. So I make an appointment with a local eye doctor.
When I was making the appoint, the lady told me that I had Medicaid but there was another policy attached (BlueCross Blue Shield). She asked me to call my local Department of Social Services (DSS) to have it removed. Otherwise both would be billed and I would have to end up paying for services (??). Didn’t make sense to me but started the procedure.
I called DSS yesterday. The lady told, “I’ll look into it for you and call you back.” No phone call received. At 10am, I called DSS back speaking to someone different. She referred me to another place. That place referred me to another place. The number of phone numbers and places called is now at TWELVE. So I went out, smoked a cigarette and decided to look it up on Google.
First, I contacted the State of New York Medicaid office. The representative that I spoke to had to fix some things on their side first (why I don’t know). She apparently fixed the problem, so I thought. Nope, she said that my Walmart BlueCross BlueShield was still active and needed a termination letter. Here we go with another number to call.
Walmart’s health coverage is provided through their AK office, so I called them. Spent ten minutes on the phone with that representative who then referred me to a special unit for Walmart employees. Why? I told her I worked for Walmart at the very beginning of the conversation ***head to desk**. Called the last number and FINALLY after another 10+15 minutes, I was told I would get the letter I requested.
Two hours on the phone calling multiples places because:
- Everyone apparently doesn’t want to do their jobs and wants the pass the buck when in reality, they can do the job.
- Want ask a superior how to resolve the problem
- Just wants to be rude saying, “You’re calling the wrong number, we can’t help you.”
- and one person just hung up on me
I was a customer service representative for ten years of my life. NEVER EVER have I treated any customer in this fashion. They called me and I got the answer for them. Yes, as years went on, I was told I can’t be spending so much time with a customer on the phone. Whatever….
But today, all these corporate offices work the same. First, they don’t care about the customers. Two, the call center representatives probably don’t get paid well. Three, the reps are required to meet a very high standard of calls and get consulted with if they perform within the company guidelines. That is exactly why I DO NOT call customer service anywhere for anything, if I can avoid it.
Ok, rant over.
Thanks for listening.
